As I had no idea about RSS feeds I was very interested in seeing how they worked. I signed up for both Google Reader and Bloglines. In google reader I set up the library feeds plus a few of my own, although I did have trouble with the ALIA one, I just could not get it to work. Also the SLV did not work as well but I was able to add some of their suggested feeds.
I liked the fact that I could follow all my existing blogs via the setting up page (under misc.) I have placed all my feeds under different folders so that I can group all my related subjects together. I also found it easier to view in the list area rather than the expanded view.
I then had a look in my account and went to igoogle. I changed themes a few times and added a few gadgets. I feel you have to be careful not to get carried away and put to much "stuff" here.
I returned to my account and signed up for Picasa, just played around here.
I only added one feed to Bloglines as I prefer Google Reader, I just wanted to compare the two.

Week 3, Image Generator and Library Thing
Thought I had better write my comments before I get carried away....having far to much fun.
With the Image Generators I had a look through all of them, some I liked more than others. Some I did find a little bit confusing and I did get a bit frustrated when things didn't work. I registered for ImageChef and did learn a lot by just playing around and managed to post a few images.
Also the interaction with other participants is great, sharing ideas and not to mention many giving helpful hints (which I need).
I set up a Library Thing account and had a good look around and added some of my books, I tried to add them in different ways, one very old book I added manually...just to see how it would work. Time permitting I hope to add a lot more...

Images
Signed up to ImageChef and had a look around. Checked out the templates and found one that I liked and sent it to my blog...mmm....what's this sidebar area? let's press it and see. I wonder if it will send it to my blog on the left hand side, yes it did.
I was wondering how to do this, and now it's something else I have learnt.

Week 2 - Flicker comment
First of all I had to learn how to transfer my photos from my camera onto my computer.
I then set up a flicker account and transferred two photos from my computer onto flicker.
I then posted these two photos onto my blog and published them.
I then had a go at publishing a photo directly from my computer onto my blog using the add image icon.
I then got back into flicker and searched for an image that I liked, found one and posted it to my blog with the link.
Phew...I had to go through the notes a few times before I really starting to get the hang of it all and probably need a lot more practice as these does seem a lot more that I could learn.
Anyway I enjoyed it and am looking forward to more challenges.

Mini Schnauzer Micah via Flicker
I know I seem to be Schnauzer mad, this is a good subject for me to practice on. I found this great photo in Flicker.

Week 1, Creating a Blog - my comment
I must admit that I also found the first exercise a bit of a challenge, not being computer savy. I did make a few mistakes when creating the blog, like loosing a couple of messages that I attempted to send and also loosing a few return comments to the other participants. I became very frustrated at this stage and took the dogs for a walk instead, however I did persist and did evidently get it right in the end..I found that I had to read the notes a few times before it made sense to me.
To-day I learnt how to copy photos from my camera onto my computer. I then went into my blog and edited my profile and inserted my photo....hooray I did it...

Creating a Blog
I have got my husband to set me up at home. I am using his laptop..terrible to use but I will persist with it.
I have a little more time at home to go through the reading material provided. Perhaps work is not the best time for reading.
I found this additional information very helpful, having never created a blog before I did find I was getting a bit confused.
Forgot in my excitment to introduce myself, my name is Jenny Jolley and I work part-time at the College of Anaesthetists Library which is located in St. Kilda Road Melbourne.

Thought I'd try again as I had a few slip ups the first time. Thought I would practice a bit more, (makes perfect they say)
